Venalin Aguilar

Venalin was involved in numerous after school programs as a child which led her to her first job in the youth development field, a Program Specialist at the Boys & Girls Club of South Puget Sound. While working with the youth there, she learned the potential and importance of OST/ELO spaces. Their mission of, “to inspire and enable youth, especially those who need us most, to become productive, responsible, caring citizens” is what sparked her passion for youth development. All of her experiences on the ground and as a youth has led her to where she is now. She is currently working with the Expanded Learning Project in Pierce County in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools and The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation. In this work, she has had the opportunity to help start ELO hubs two out of the twelve Tacoma elementary schools participating in this work, become a certified Methods Trainer for Youth Program Quality, and now shifting into a coaching role to her ELO providers. Her hope in this work is that we can create and foster environments for our youth to feel safe and allow them to grow, empower themselves, and embrace the possibilities!
