Sergio A Beltran

My name is Sergio Beltran, I grew up on the North End Tacoma, WA. I attended Wilson High School and after graduating I attended Pacific Lutheran University where I got a BA in Sociology. I ultimately decided to serve in AmeriCorps through Northwest Leadership Program within the Urban Leaders in Training program. At the end of my service, I worked in Auburn at a community center overseeing a tutoring and afterschool program. Our work focused on race, identity and empowerment through education. At that time, I was also heavily involved in Youth Program Quality through School's Out Washington, eventually becoming a certified external assessor. After five years, of working in that community, I left to join the YMCA as a program After a year, I joined the Expanded Learning Project in Pierce County in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools and The Greater Community Foundation. I have a immense passion for youth work and while being a part of this project I have become a certified Methods Trainer for Youth Program Quality, which leads me here today!
