Maureen Devery

As the Senior Manager of Science Interpretation at Pacific Science Center, Maureen Devery oversees a team that engages guests throughout their visit, making personal connections to science, facilitating hands-on experiences, and delivering interactive stage and planetarium shows. She also works with the Discovery Corps youth development program which seeks to give high school students the opportunity to learn job skills, explore STEM careers, and engage with guests alongside the Science Interpretation team. Maureen joined Pacific Science Center in 2015 as the Outreach Education Manager overseeing Science on Wheels and other outreach programming at schools and community events all across Washington State. Prior to PacSci, she managed the nanotechnology outreach programs funded through a National Science Foundation grant at North Seattle College and worked in informal science education at The Museum of Flight and the Flying Heritage Collection. Maureen also served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Tukwila Elementary School in Tukwila, WA. She became interested in informal education while supervising a tutoring program in the New Orleans Public Schools before moving to Seattle. Maureen has her Bachelor’s Degree in Earth Science and Environmental Science from Tulane University and a Master’s Degree in Zoology through the Advanced Inquiry Program at Miami University in collaboration with the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.
