Mariko Nagashima

Mariko Nagashima is an artist and arts administrator with a deep passion for empowering young people through the arts. In her primary role as the Press Corps Manager at TeenTix, a youth development and arts access non-profit, she facilitates workshops to teach arts journalism to teens. The Press Corps Program’s goal is to disrupt systems of oppression that have kept marginalized voices out of arts journalism, and to provide a platform for youth to share their unique perspectives and opinions about art. Press Corps workshops bring diverse voices to the fore and show young people that their voices are an essential part of the arts community. Mariko gained extensive experience as a dance writer and editor from her six years as the Editor of the SeattleDances, a website focusing on critical dance coverage. Mariko holds degrees in Ballet and Biology from the University of Utah. She continues to share her love of ballet as a dance educator, and teaches children, teens, and adults at several Seattle studios.
